I have a friend who is gorgeous and a size two. She lives in another state and recently she came to visit for hypnosis services at my Integrative Hypnotherapy office in Boca Raton, FL. When I picked her up from the airport she announced that she is on a strict diet trying to get back to the size zero she used to be five years ago. Her diet consisted of diet drinks and salads. She admitted to being very irritable and miserable since she started this ‘diet’ but she complained that when she looked in the mirror she thought she was fat and ugly. This was certainly not a case for Hypnosis for Weight Loss, but one for hypnosis for body image.
What do you see when you look in the mirror? How do you feel about your body? Do you constantly compare yourself to pictures of models in magazines or to what you consider your skinny friends?
Let me tell you, your skinny friends are for the most part not happy with their bodies either. The models on the magazine covers have been photoshopped to an unreasonable extreme… and even they think other women look better. One aspect that makes Hypnosis for Body Image different is post-surgical body changes, especially after the diagnosis of cancer.

A few weeks ago I completed Shirly’s course on mindful eating and I highly recommend it! For me the individual class worked the best and I gained new knowledge about foods and behaviors that had been keeping me in a vicious circle of my food obsessions. Since taking the class I am free of sugars and grains, my mind is clear, my weight is more manageable and I have the understanding and the tools I can use when difficulties arise. I know now that looking for food to “solve “ issues is not the mindful way.
