Weight Loss Support Groups And Individuals: Mindful Hypnosis
Mindful Eating: Weight Loss Support Groups and Individuals
Mindful Eating is based on the Buddhist concept of mindfulness. Mindfulness provides the tool for increased awareness, and therefore an increased ability to make wise choices, as well as greatly enhanced self-control. The weight loss support groups are the best way to lose weight and maintain the weight loss.
According to Harvard Health, a growing body of research suggests that slowing down and being mindful and thoughtful regarding what and how you eat can help people adopt and maintain a healthier food plan that leads to weight loss and improved overall health. In the weight loss support groups we learn how to do exactly that and we experience what is mindful eating together.
What is Mindful Eating?
When using mindfulness during the process of eating, there is great emphasis on noticing the texture, color, and flavors of the food. This allows for a slowing down, and even more importantly, an increased ability to recognize when hunger is over, and fullness is there, this is the time to stop eating.
In our hurried society, with the endless distractions we are presented with both internally and externally, there is often little attention truly placed on the process of eating. Most people eat while checking their phone, watching TV, speaking to a friend, doing work on the computer. While multi-tasking seems like a great thing, doing these other activities while eating contributes greatly to excess eating. How to lose weight and maintain it is at the core of this process. Enough with the ‘yo-yo’ dieting!
Mindful eating is a gateway to your relationship with yourself and with the world. What is it that you truly deserve? What do you need to nourish you? What are you using food for? This practice brings great healing to years and years of habits based in wrongful beliefs and assumptions.
Mind and gut: Be part of this partnership
There is a very complex relationship between our body and our minds. Specifically, the gut and the mind are very much connected with information going both ways. From mind to gut and from gut to mind. If you pause and pay attention you may notice that you are no longer hungry. You may notice that your gut is “telling” you that it is time to stop eating. You may notice that your gut is signaling that a specific food is not good for you. The alternative is that you go on eating and eating until you feel so full and miserable that you swear you will never again eat this much, only to repeat that same process again and again.
Mindfulness practices, combined with behavioral techniques help you create new habits that are supportive of your life goals in any area. The weight loss support groups are your opportunity to lose the weight and gain confidence as you take charge of your mind and harness your inner resources. It is the best way to lose weight!

“I am so happy that I found out about Shirley. She is an amazing person. I took her Mindful Eating 6 week program. I am amazed how much I learned from her. I loved everything we did including the discussions and camaraderie among our group about our individual problems and/or needs; Shirley’s compassion; the meditations we did; the learning about mindfulness (which I desperately need to practice) and Shirley’s vast knowledge about proper nutrition. I came away with much more than I thought I would, and the icing on the cake (lol – not really) was that I lost 7 1/2 pounds. I can’t wait to come back to Florida to attend another of Shirley’s mindfulness classes.
Thank you Shirley!”
